We're a city founded on barnraising and innovation.
Waterloo is a special city in Canada. It has been an enterprising community since its inception — from its agricultural roots through its industrial rise, insurance industry dominance, high-tech leadership and world-class universities and colleges.
But it's not enough. Waterloo needs new leadership to maximize its potential and provide its residents with the service, opportunities and value they deserve.
Jeyas is the leader to do this. He shows up, he listens and he builds bridges to solve problems.
Four things Jeyas will lead on.
To turbo-charge Waterloo's success the city needs a clear identity, an ambitious vision for economic opportunity and a City Hall focused on helping residents build the future rather than preserving the status quo.

Setting a clear identity & bold vision
Waterloo isn't clear on what it stands for, where it wants to go or how it's distinct from Kitchener. That gets settled — out loud and with residents.

Building a dynamic & inclusive economy
Investing in the enterprising instinct this city was built on so opportunity reaches every neighbourhood and not just the ones already thriving.

Breaking the culture of complacency
Test and adapt is in Waterloo's core. Jeyas will put that instinct back at the centre of how the city plans, decides and delivers on it.

Making City Hall customer focused
Less waiting, less red tape, fewer broken promises. A City Hall that answers residents quickly and treats their time as valuable.
“I'm not a career politician, a tech guru or a civil engineer. I'm a leader — one who will harness the expertise of all of them, and who loves this city.”
Come join us.
It's a wonderful team — and we've got lots to do. Let's keep growing this amazing city of ours.
